The Pool for Dogs
The Project: We knew we found the right people as soon as we talked to Green Valley K9. We shared our love for dogs as we talked about building the most modern dog facility in Rochester. How do you keep dogs active in a town where the weather changes daily? You build enough room to play, inside. This facility in Rochester has everything for dog care; an indoor play field, a doggy spa and of course an indoor pool, just for dogs.
The Indoor Dog Pool
Dogs do not get picky about their water, but we do. It starts outside of the pool, with a rubberize floor surface that doesn’t get slippery when wet. An integrated drain around the exit spaces around the pool will help catch the first shake off, while the flat floor will keep it easy to squeegee the rest in the drain for easy daily cleanup. Watching our dogs take the shortest path to excitement, we added angles on the entry side where most of them would be coming from. This will help prevent them jumping over the corners while they are outside of the water.
The mechanical room is nice and large, to not only hold the pump equipment but to keep our friends from thinking the cleaning supplies and tools are toys.
Not all dogs are ready to leap into the water. Making sure they can step in and feel their way into the pool is important. We made the entire transition side an easy step transition for them to enter the water at their own pace.
When you want to cool off, but you dog doesn’t want to get in deep. Ever meet a dog that doesn’t like to swim? We have, but they like walking in the water and still cooling off. We made the ledge a significant size of the pool to make sure every dog had a chance to enjoy the water.
Pool Equipment Features
Automatic Fill Canister
Dogs can splash, they can also act like a sponge and pull water out of the pool really quickly. Utilizing an automatic fill canister, the staff never has to refill the pool water. The system is buried parallel to the pool surface and incorporates a float system that matched the level of your pool. When the water drops low, the connected water line is opened from a valve and water enters the pool. It is a mechanical system with no electronics without incurring costs to maintain a perfect water level.
When a pool is this active with curious paws, you keep the pump pickup down low, in the deep end. Combined with surface skimmers, this pool will have enough flow and action to keep it clean with minimal maintenance.
